Mnemosyne family

Features for all the kid members of the Mnemosyne family

The Mnemosyne family of integrated LASER guided Single-Use-Pump’s all consist of two parts:

  • the re-usable Drive Unit containing sensors, electronics, pinch valves, communication and 1, 2 or 4 of the driving diaphragms (cardiac muscle)
  • one or more single-use, disposable wetted parts consisting of a dome to which both the elastic diaphragm and the fluid conveying hoses are attached and supplied pre-sterilized in dual film bags.

Physical feature

  • No expensive housing materials in order to reach traditional steam cleaning requirements
  • No mechanical or liquid seals to an axle or other mechanical parts
  • No ball valves, but controlled hose valves / pinch valves easy to clean
  • No pumped media contact to pump body parts – contamination not possible
  • Low weight and compact design gives OEM manufactures freedom to design equipment
  • Able to controlled pump any fluid, liquid independent of reasonable inlet and outlet pressure
  • Able to measure accurately the pumped volume, a true Positive Displacement pump – no in-line flow-sensor is needed
  • The smallest Calliope designed into the stackable Hephaestus Stainless Steel cabinets
  • All pumps offer infinite turn-down, turn-up scale
  • No rotating parts such as electrical motor, coupling or gearing

Operating features

  • Max volume per stroke depending on pump size, no minimum volume exist
  • Zero spallation / shedding of membrane materials as no shear is introduced between used polymeric materials
  • Self-priming and able to run dry for extended periods with constant and controlled pulse
  • Self-emptying, drain on inlet and purge on outlet as the pump will convey gas as well
  • Less air used for performing the job of transferring the fluid
  • Single-use, disposable wetted parts eliminate cleaning issues – just un-pack and exchange with new sterile membranes
  • Low cost disposable membrane inserts eliminates ALL cleaning issues
  • Choose from various membrane materials according to needs
  • Use 3rd and/or 4th active membranes in Polyhymnia as pulse damper or obtain even higher fluid transfer
  • Polyhymnia integrate 4 diaphragm houses able to operate combined or independent and hereby useful for concentrate mixing of 4 different fluids with just one pump
  • Very gently operation with no rotating as no shear is introduced between used polymeric materials parts applying shear stresses to the pumped product
  • Working pressure as much as 5 Bar makes the pump suitable for connection with filtration devices
  • Two or more independent pumps able to operate fully controlled in parallel

Programming features

  • Choose one pulse/stroke per day or one pulse per second or any set of pulses in between
  • Choose any stroke length
  • Choose any fraction of a pulse again and again
  • Any imaginable operation sequence, cycle for each diaphragm (pulse ramp, pulse train, pulse length, pulse pause, stroke start, stroke length, stroke distance)
  • As fully electronically controlled and each with a unique identification each pump is easy to upgrade
  • Choose the fluid pressure you want to create – 5-6 Bar (depending on supply air pressure)
  • Choose the volume you want to pump – (well, according to pump size)
  • Real-time information about pumped volume from each individually diaphragm
  • Data logging, data acquisition for each membrane used
  • Pump operation based selectively on constant pressure, constant mass flow, desired volume
  • Two or more pump may work together in order to obtain capacity or pulse control

Maintenance features

  • No lubrication needed
  • No need for strip down pump for cleaning
  • Controlled hose valves not part of single-use membrane assembly (wetted parts)
  • Longevity - diaphragm tested to last + 6 month at full stroke length and pulse speed

Installation features

  • Single-Use-Pump parts may be part of an all sterile process package
  • No serious tooling needed for Single-Use-Pump part replacement – well, a scissor and a wrench

Data Collection features

  • On-line operation pressure from build-in sensor
  • On-line Mass-Flow-Control / metering, the pump measures the volume pumped accurately without external flow sensors

Communication features

  • Re-usable pump body requires only pressurized air and 24 VDC electrical power
  • TCP/IP bus connection or Wi-Fi connection
  • Modbus or OPC-AU communication
  • All Mnemosyne kids are stand alone and share the same communication module
  • Software upgradable via the Internet

Not designed for:

  • Viscosity higher than 10,000 centiStoke
  • Very abrasive materials
